Quality control is not the measurement before shipping
Identifying where things can go wrong is far cheaper than discovering it at final inspection.
Quality control is not the measurement you take before shipping — it is identifying, early, where things can go wrong: which dimensions are mating surfaces, which features will move during machining, which faces cannot carry fixture marks. Below is the inspection sequence we actually run.

Drawing review (pre-IQC)
Confirm datums, critical dimensions, tolerance attainability and the gauging plan; flag anything that cannot be held repeatably before work starts.
Incoming material
Verify grade, size and temper against the certificate, which is retained. Customer-supplied stock is logged by source and quantity.
First article
Full dimensional inspection of the first part before the batch runs, releasing the programme, tooling and fixturing.
In-process checks
Sampling at critical dimensions and operation boundaries, tracking tool wear and dimensional drift; the line stops for review if control limits are exceeded.
Post-finishing re-check
Anodising, painting and similar processes change dimensions — affected mating features and cosmetic surfaces are re-checked afterwards.
Final inspection
To the agreed AQL or 100%, with a dimensional report. Cosmetic parts are judged against the approved sample.

Dimensional inspection report
Covering the critical characteristics called out on the drawing, with measured values and verdicts.
CMM report
For geometric tolerances and complex surfaces, with specifiable characteristics and sampling frequency.
Material certificate
Supplied with the material batch, traceable to supplier and heat number.
Surface finishing report
Film thickness, adhesion and other characteristics appropriate to the process.
First article inspection (FAI)
Full dimensional verification before the production run, serving as the reference for subsequent batches.
