Industrial design decides how a product looks and how it feels in the hand. But form is never isolated: an awkward parting line complicates the tool, an undersized radius invites sink marks, and a texture requirement can double finishing cost.

We bring structure and process into the styling phase. Forming method is assessed while sketches are still being screened; wall thickness and draft are confirmed during 3D development; a texture is signed off only after we know the target process can produce it. A form approved this way does not have to be rebuilt when structural design begins.

Colour, material and finish are decided together and verified on sample parts, so renders and reality do not diverge.

Process Overview

Every styling decision is amplified downstream: surface continuity drives highlights, highlights drive the required finishing grade, and grade drives cost. At each styling review we look at three things together — the render, the draft analysis and the parting layout. If any one fails, the round does not advance.

Fix the parting line before refining surfaces

Moving it later usually means rebuilding the surface. Draw it during sketching and argue about it then.

Radii are not a finishing touch

They are part of the form and of manufacturability. Added last, they tend to produce torn surfaces and unmachinable corners.

Choose texture against the target process

Bead blast, etch, brush and gloss each have a range they can express. Confirm what the process can do before deciding how to render.

Leave room for assembly

Gaps and steps on cosmetic parts must be allowed for during styling. Reworking form after structural design costs far more.
